Hello there!
I'm not sure what I'm going to say, I just thought I'd write a little blog before bed. I have lots to do tomorrow, but I'm looking forward to it, I'm really hoping for a productive day.
Oh here's an inside scoop for you! I set up a second myspace page (well actually... a third, I have a personal one too that I don't use anymore.) A lot of people have been asking where they can download things, and I can't go putting covers and 'funny' songs on my proper myspace, so I have made another. This one will be more closely linked to my YouTube channel and I'm going to tell people about it in my next video. In fact I have loads of things I need to tell people so it's going to be a mass update video. Hopefully I'll be able to make it a good video rather than just reeling off a load of information.
One of the things I'm going to mention is a little project I'm involved in; a YouTube channel called 'theyoukproject'. This was an idea that Martyn (standinglikestatues) came up with, and (as I was there at the time!) he asked if I would be one of the channel moderators. The basic idea is that the channel will be a place where YouTubers from the UK can meet and also promote their channels. So basically you make a video and send it to us, we put it on the channel and it gets seen by people who don't know you, 10 minutes later they do know you! Of course it can only really work well if the channel gets plenty of subscribers, but I think there's a good chance as it's a great way of finding talented UK YouTubers. Oh and you don't need you be from the UK to join in, it is a celebration of UK YouTube talent, but anyone who enjoys the videos produced in our little country, I encourage you to subscribe and leave comments on the channel and the videos.
So there's another exclusive for you blog readers! You may as well not watch my new video! But if any of you would like to subscribe and/or make a video for the channel then I'll put a link at the bottom so you can check it out. Or you can ask me directly. Oh and your chances of us uploading your video will be greatly improved if you subscribe to the channel! (And the mods channels! That last one is a joke - you don't have to subscribe to us... or do you? *shifty eyes*)
In other news, two videos went up tonight that I was really happy about and they've both been.. well I don't know what they've been! One is Dom's new video, which yes; I am in! I did get to see it, but now it's saying it's private, don't know what that's about. And the other is Nic's first ever video! Again I managed to see it and it was great, but now it's saying it's unavailable. Hopefully it's just a bug and will be ok by tomorrow. Well there's two shoutouts for you, I shall link their channels at the bottom, I would take a look if I were you!
I have several other collab videos on the go at the minute, so keep an eye on the featured video on my channel!
Alright then, that's enough bloggage. Here are some links, I hope you have time to take a look.

Not given up yet then?
Well that would have been an impressive attempt at starting a blog! But no I have the urge again, which is good.
So I've spent the last few days working on a song for student.com, it's not the kind of thing I usually do, but I like to challenge myself and they are great to work with. I'll be sending everything off tomorrow hopefully and you'll be able to see it on youtube soon.
The other big news I have is YouStage! Okay, that's not a word so for those of you who haven't heard of it, a little explanation; the BBC have started a competition called 'Upstaged'. The premise is basically competitors spend 8 hours in a glass stage entertaining in anyway they like, it's broadcast live on the internet and there will be a highlights show on BBC 3.
Myles Dyer aka Blade376 has put together a team of vloggers from YouTube to enter and I am one of them! To be honest I don't know what we are going to do! But I know most of the other people involved and have complete faith in them and excitement at the thought of working with them. Three notable examples being Dave (daveyboyz) who put my name forward to Myles, I talk to him a lot and I have recorded a lot of music to go on his videos, Alex (nerimon) who I met a little over a month ago at a gathering - with a few others (whom I'm sure you'll hear of in future blogs) we hung out long after the gathering was over and I got on with him really well. Finally Ben Loka who I haven't met and have only talked to a little via email and youtube, but who I am very much looking forward to meeting and working with as he make fantastic videos and always has the nicest things to say.
So that's all happening over the next couple of months if we get through. HERE is a link to our profile page. I'm hoping we will be able to use the internet in our glass cage so we can make it interactive, I'm pretty sure we can.
I'm involved in so many 'collabs' lately I don't know when I'll be able to put something on my channel! It's good though, I like seeing them come together.
I must say I've been surprised at the number of people who read my first entry on here. I'm counting in the hundreds rather than the dozens I expected, especially considering I never mentioned it to anyone - just added a link on my channel and my myspace page. So well done to you, you're very on the ball! I'm sorry that you have to be a member to comment, but if you do want to say something you don't have to leave it here - you can get me on youtube or myspace - it's all me! And also I don't know how to reply to comments on here... haha, I suck.
So that will do for now - Tom wants me on Stickam!

p.s. why can I not get paragraphs in this thing on a mac?!

So why am I writing stuff down when I have a webcam?
Well firstly it's easier and I'm lazy. Secondly, I like to write and I haven't done it enough lately. I think it's one of those things that not enough people do, like reading. I don't know how people can go through their whole lives never having read a book. Anyway the third and final reason for a written blog is I'm thinking of putting up less Vlogs in the traditional sense (if there is such a thing as a 'traditional vlog'). I still want to talk on camera, in fact more so now than ever, but I want to aim more towards comedy videos or at least interesting things, less personal I suppose, and so this can be a more personal place.
To be honest I'm not sure how I'm going to sell this. I just wanted to start writing again. I don't think I'll advertise it much, this is for me, not to get viewers like the myspace and youtube accounts. I suppose I should explain, though most of you will probably have come from one of those sites and will know me at least a little, allow me to give a few words to any total newcomers; Hello! My name is Dave and I have a band called 'Blue Skies'. Yes that should do.
So today I reached a bit of a milestone over on YouTube; 1000 subscribers! I also got my first little cameo in a studentdotcom video, which is great. It's wonderful when people you've been watching for a while notice your channel, even better subscribe, and even better than that ask you to be involved in something. When their own video is at stake you know they aren't just being nice - they actually think you are good!
Also, yesterday I put up a video responding to Brett's impersonations competition... I recorded a song in the style of davedays, which was fun! It's going down really well, which is always good. I'm currently undecided as to whether I should send davedays a message about it!
Well anyway, I think I'm getting better at making videos, and I'm considering getting a proper camera to lift some of the restrictions I have at the moment. It's my birthday in three weeks, that sounds like the perfect opportunity. I can only hope I will get better at writing as well... I used to be good I'm sure! I've been writing in too many comment boxes and msn conversations - it's all I can do not to say 'lol' or compose some kind of face out of letters at the end of each sentence!
If anyone reads this I think you can leave comments if you want, I'll be honest: I'm not sure how this site works.
I'll figure it out. I think that's enough for now anyway.
Until next time. x
